My first experiences with video games began at a very young age. Some of the earliest games I remember sitting down and playing by myself were Pokemon Fire Red and The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker. I was completely drawn in by these well-developed worlds and characters, by the combat and puzzle solving. I believe these first games, and many of those which came after, truly shaped what I find important in a video game to this day. As I continue creating games, I would like to be able to create compelling worlds, characters, and over-all narratives that bring as much joy and otherwise emotions to players that the games I’ve played in my life have brought me. It is not so much about genre as it is about creating an environment that takes the player out of reality for the time being and submerges them into a different world. In my opinion, world-building and narrative games resonate with me greatly, though I know that is not the case for everyone.
